Wegovy Constipation Severe — Last Resort Options
- This review covers the most current clinical evidence available
- Medication has been studied in multiple large-scale clinical trials
- Always consult your prescribing physician before making changes
What to Do When Wegovy Constipation Is Severe
You’ve used every laxative. Days keep passing without a bowel movement. You feel terrible. This is what to do.
Step 1: Assess for Red Flags
Seek emergency care if:
- Nausea with vomiting and no BM
- Intense pain in one area
- Belly is hard as a board
- Any fever with constipation
- Bright red blood
This may indicate possible impaction, obstruction, or perforation.
The Last-Resort Stack
When it’s severe but not an emergency:
Right Now: Insert a Dulcolax suppository — fastest OTC method. This creates local stimulation.
If no result in 2 hours: Take 2 bisacodyl tablets by mouth. This will work in 6-12 hours.
Also right now: Massive hydration push — your colon needs water.
Half an hour after water: Two capfuls of MiraLAX — one-time double dosing is acceptable.
If nothing by morning: Mag07 5 capsules on empty stomach + lots of water.
When Nothing OTC Works
When the rescue sequence doesn’t produce results fails completely:
-
Contact your provider — available options include:
- Lactulose
- Fleet enema — fast-acting
- If fecal impaction has occurred — must be done by a healthcare provider
-
Ask about lowering Wegovy — your current dose may be incompatible with your GI system at this dose
Future Protocol
Going forward:
Must-do every day:
- Daily osmotic laxative — consistency matters
- Water, water, water
- Daily fiber — with adequate water
- Post-meal walk
If you notice slowing:
- Intervene early — add Mag07 or Dulcolax at the first sign of backup, not day 7
The key lesson: early intervention prevents emergencies. Act preventively on Wegovy.
- FDA-approved with extensive clinical data
- Evidence-based treatment option
- Clinically studied in large randomized trials
- Potential side effects (discussed above)
- High out-of-pocket cost without insurance
- Requires ongoing medical supervision
